After studying business management at Midlands Tech and the University of South Carolina, Ray Thames began his career in Columbia, South Carolina with IPG in 1972. Over the next 23 years he worked a wide range of positions within IPG and learned the ins and outs of his industry. Beginning in Maintenance and Engineering with inventory responsibilities, Ray worked his way up to both Maintenance Management and Project Engineering Managing. Overall, he held positions in Inventory Control, Purchasing, MRO Management, Scheduling and Expediting, Maintenance Area Management, Facilities Management, and Project Engineering and Management.
After building this impressive career, Ray was welcomed into the compressed air industry at I&M Industrials with open arms in 1995. With his extensive experience in manufacturing, he brought a unique customer experience to I&M. He has been able to relate well with customers in order to bring them the best experience possible as Outside Sales and Project Manager. With Ray’s help, customers design and plan their systems and overall services in a way that allows comfort in total reliability and cost effective ownership. For the last 21 years Ray has proved to be an irreplaceable employee and built lasting powerful relationships with I&M clientele.
When not working to bring customers his very best in the office, Ray spends his personal time enjoying many varied pastimes. He enjoys working with youth through sports and has stepped in as head coach for football, basketball, and baseball teams. He has also served as a board member for the Cayce/West Columbia Dixie Youth Baseball League. Ray enjoys playing music and even channeled this interest into youth outreach as President of the Brookland-Cayce High School Band Parent’s Association. He can also occasionally be found on the fairway enjoying a laidback round of golf.
